In a study published in the Journal of American College Health, exercisers who worked out with a personal trainer not only worked harder but were also more likely to stick with exercise than those that worked alone. It seems there is a definite psychological advantage to having someone watch over you when you train. Whether you’re inwardly trying to impress your trainer or you’re just conscious that you want to prove to them what you can do, the fact remains that most people work up to 35% harder with a personal trainer by their side, than they do when exercising on their own.
